DM and SM Can Now Run Different Minor Versions of TechDoc

In the past, TechDoc has always required that any Search Manager (SM) running on another server that a Document Manager (DM) sends updates to must already be running the version that the DM is getting ready to update to. Starting with TechDoc 9, this requirement is being eased. The SM and DM are only required to be running the same major version number. For instance, if you are getting ready to update a DM to Release 9, the SM can be running 9, 9.1, 9.2, etc. If you are getting ready to update a DM to Release 9.1, the SM can be running 9, 9.1, 9.2, etc.

TechDoc 9 Officially Supports Windows Server 2016

DocuBrain has completed compatibility testing and TechDoc 9 is compatible with Windows Server 2016. We now officially support installing and running TechDoc 9 on Windows Server 2016.

Note that if you are still running on Windows Server 2008 R2, you should begin preparing to upgrade your operating system. Microsoft ended mainstream support of Windows Server 2008 R2 on 01/13/2015 and currently plans to end extended support on 01/14/2020.

TechDoc 9 JRE Updated for New Root CAs

The TechDoc 9 JRE has been updated to include the latest SSL Root CAs from the US Treasury. Security-wise, the JRE is still based on Java 8u102. This update includes the latest Root CA's for TRCA, DHSCA, FSCA, NOCA, SSACA, TOCA, and VACA. Be aware that this JRE only works with TechDoc 9. It can be used as part of a fresh install of TechDoc 9 or it can be run afterwards to upgrade the existing TechDoc 9 JRE.
