Is MPR a supported File Type in TechDoc8? It doesn't show on the Mime Type list in the Admin area. If not, can MP4 video files be ingested and managed, even with limited functionality?

Even though a mime type may
Mon, 01/12/2015 - 10:38Even though a mime type may not be present for a file type, remember TechDoc supports any file of any file type. Mime types are used primarily to decide whether a file is renderable and/or eligible for full text searching, neither of which make much sense for a video. We do allow any mime type to be created for any file type so that you may add and specify a thumbnail to use for files of that type. This way, when viewing generations you would see the icon you choose instead of the unknown question mark icon.
It does appear that all mp4 files should use the video/mp4 mime type; I'll look to see about adding that. In the mean time, your welcome to duplicate any of the existing video mime types so there will at least be an icon.

Mime Types are auto-created too...
Mon, 01/12/2015 - 11:42One additional thing to remember... When you upload a file via the browser, most browsers will suggest a Mime Type. If the browser does and that Mime Type is not already in the system, the Create Document command will cause the new Mime Type to be created in TechDoc. Once created, you are free to modify it to add an icon or change the other settings associated with that Mime Type.
