Please be aware that Microsoft's Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) can cause rendering of Office documents to fail. Render actually uses Microsoft Office products to render various Office file formats to PDF. After installing EMET, some users have reported that Office file formats can no longer be rendered and that the various Office products will fail to start if you bring up the Render VM and attempt to start them interactively.
