The SM does not currently support the searching of attachments. This would require some careful evaluation before it could be considered for implementation. First is security. Currently, if you have read access to the document, you have read access to its attachments. Would that still be acceptable for searching? Second, attachments can occur at the document and the generation level. In the SM, there is only the concept of searching on the current document. Should gen attachments be allow? Only the latest gen's attachments? Only the latest, released gen's attachments? We would have to poll users after all the different issues are identified and figure out if/how the feature would be implemented.
