Can't save WebDAV password when connecting to TechDoc

Some PCs don't display the "Remember my password" checkbox when using "My Network Places". Is there a way to enable the feature?

We did some research and found out that this problem is tied to the local machine (the client), it doesn't have anything to do with server settings. Some of the articles we came across stated that windows security updates can sometimes cause this to happen (rarely).

In order to fix this problem it may be necessary to get the help of a network support person as Administrative privileges are needed. Here's the steps to take in order to enable the storing of username and password:

  1. Open "Administrative Tools" from the "Control Panel".
  2. Double click "Local Security Policy".
  3. When the "Local Security Settings" window opens up, expand "Local Policies" in the left column and click "Security Options".
  4. Scroll through the list on the right side and find the policy labeled "Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication". Double click this policy when you find it.
  5. When the window opens up, under the "Local Security Setting" tab, check the "Enabled" radio button. Click the "OK" button and close the "Local Security Settings", and "Administrative Tools" windows.

After completing the steps mentioned above you should be able to save your username and password by clicking the "Remember my password" radio button when creating a WebDAV connection through "My Network Places".
